Our Review of Learning Technologies 2023

Learning Techologies 2023 Review

Learning Technologies 2023 is Europe’s leading showcase of organisational learning and the technology used to support learning at work, and this year we were delighted to join over 9,000 attendees plus the 200 international exhibitors at the ExCel in London.

There was a brilliant atmosphere over the 2 day event of Learning Technologies 2023, with plenty going on across all stands and a huge number of free, educational seminars too.

It’s safe to say that the event was incredibly successful, and we were thrilled to have BuildEmpire exhibiting at stand number K45, along with our platinum alliance partner, Totara, who welcomed visitors to enjoy a coffee at the Totara Café.

Learning Technologies 2023 key takeaways

The Learning Technologies 2023 free exhibition included a number of seminars, features and providers covering all the latest issues in workplace learning and development (L&D). The agenda covered trending topics such as:

  • Emerging technologies, collaborative learning, content authoring and design
  • E-learning strategy and implementation
  • Gaming, simulations and virtual worlds
  • Learning management infrastructure, methods and systems
  • People development, management and leadership development
  • Integrated learning
  • Plus so much more

But above all, it seems that artificial intelligence (AI) is the hot topic, and the key phrase on everyone’s lips in the L&D space right now.

Judging by this event, we’ll be keeping AI at the top of our watch-list.

FRED Talks

Of course, one of the absolute highlights from Learning Technologies 2023 came from our very own BuildEmpire CEO, Fred Thompson, as he hosted his FRED Talks session!

On Day 2 of the event, Fred took to the stage in the Bitesize Learning Zone 3 area at 12:20pm for his session on “5 easy steps to revolutionise engagement in your organisation,” where he spoke through the five simple steps any business can take to increase engagement, improve employee retention and enhance internal culture.

It was a brilliant turnout, and such a big hit that we are already looking forward to the next one!

The Totara Café

Throughout the event, visitors flocked to the Totara Café as it served as the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee, plan the day, and enjoy a demo the complete Totara Talent Experience Platform too.

In fact, our very own Totara customer, Kevin Avis at the Circle Health Group stopped by, just before taking to the stage in theatre 4 for a session on life-changing learning by integrating data, talent, and people skills.

The Learning Technologies 2023 Conference

As if that wasn’t all exciting enough, the free exhibition was also accompanied by the Learning Technologies conference, which explored both the latest applications of learning technologies and the emerging practices leading organisations use to build effective learning strategies.

With a conference program containing over 30 sessions with more than 90 leading speakers and facilitators, attendees enjoyed a range of collaborative and interactive sessions as well, all focussing on hot industry topics such as skills, data, AI, personalisation, and analytics.

For us, the biggest takeaways from this conference was…

The countdown is on

Learning Technologies 2023 included everything you will possibly need to be kept up to speed with all the latest in workplace learning and learning technology.

For us, we’re officially counting down the days until Learning Technologies officially opens its doors again next year, as we’ve enjoyed a jam-packed 2 days meeting so many new faces, demonstrating our learning management systems, attending some really insightful seminars and having some brilliant conversations with potential clients.

It really was an excellent event, and our team have taken away so many learnings ready to apply them directly to our own platforms.

For the BuildEmpire team, we didn’t simply visit the show to stand around – we went there to learn ourselves. And we enjoyed every second of it.
