See what we’re working on, come to life.
One key piece of work is ensuring our Edition is compatible with v19. We also made sure to include the new sidebar menu within our own theme, Blueprint.
We’ve built a totally new block to add to your dashboard where you can feature important content.
This includes adding an image, a heading, text and a call to action button.
Similarly to a website banner block, this allows you to guide users to key content.
We built a new activity where learners can add notes within a course or programme.
As they progress through the course, they can add new notes and then at the end, you can also add an activity where these notes can be downloaded.
This is great for revision purposes, and the doc will come out with the course tile and branding already attached.
With learners using all different manners of media in their day to day lives, it’s only right that this is reflected in the learning world too.
That’s why we’ve built an audio activity that you can add in where you can embed MP3 files for learners.
In Edition 1.0, we released the tiles format which put topics into something more visual.
What we then thought was that some users may not want, or need, to put images in each tile.
And so, we evolved the set up so that you can add brand colours and each tile will automatically produce a branded graphic.

We wanted to update the quiz styling to match the rest of our Blueprint theme.
We’ve made some changes to the styling of the questions, and quiz navigation so that it looks sleeker
In our theme, Blueprint, you can alter the background colour of your platform.
This might seem like a small change but it makes a huge impact to the overall look and feel of your software

We’ve created a gamification module that can be embedded into your LMS.
With it, you can add point allocation for set actions e.g. logging in, or completing courses.
With these points, you can then set up leaderboards to create competition.

BuildEmpire now offers passkeys as part of its core platform.
That means your users can log on simply and easily.
All they need to do is create a passkey via their phone or computer, and then login to that device each time they wish to log into the LMS.
We’ve built our own theme, Blueprint, which comes as standard with our Edition.
This has sleek colour options, smoother dashboard block options and rounded edges for a more modern and streamlined look.

We added the ability to show a chosen image as the header for all dashboards, this could be used for aesthetics or to make global announcements.
We built a new block to add to dashboards that allows you to push the next learning content in a series.
This allows learners to be reminded of training and to pick up where they left off.

Totara allows you to see your earned badges via a block.
But we’ve amended this to create our own version of the block to allow you to see achieved badges, as well as available badges.
So when you start a new training course, you’ll unlock all the badges you could achieve.

We felt that topics in a course looked a little clunky. They were listed as one long block of text, which wasn’t particularly engaging.
So we build tile course format, where you can set topics as individual blocks with an image, to make it look more visually appealing.
We’ve built another new block which allows learners to see their learning.
This block is different from the “My Learning” block because of the categorisation of courses.
The “My Courses” block organises courses into categories, facilitating a more structured and simplified user experience.
This custom-built activity allows you to seamlessly integrate your videos into your learning content.
You can add captions and subtitles to be truly accessible.
You can customise completion criteria by specifying a required watch percentage.
You’ll also get access to in-depth reporting to better understand user interaction with video content.
Plus, learners can resume partially watched videos, right from where they left off.
We’re working on a number of improvements to our Edition. They include:
Introducing the BuildEmpire Edition.
That’s our version of core Totara. It comes with add-ons like passkeys, extra video formatting and tile grids.
Most recently, we’ve created our own version of the Totara theme; called Blueprint. It’s a cleaner base to build your LMS off of.
Create courses in your catalogue and sell directly to your users via a Stripe connection.
Whether you sell online courses, tickets to learning events or a mixture of the two, you can create SEO-friendly, public landing pages to drive more revenue and manage all aspects of content access automatically with your Totara LMS.
We know learner engagement is a huge challenge in L&D.
We’re working on adding a points system so you can reward your users. Whether you pick gems, points, coins or stars!
And you can use this points system to create a leaderboard to encourage competitiveness.
Here are some new additions you might have missed.

Users can now set up passkeys to log into your LMS to save forgotten or low-security passwords.

We've transformed traditional text-based displays into visually engaging card formats. These vibrant activity cards prominently feature the activity title, optional descriptions, activity type, and completion status when relevant.

Add captions and subtitles, customise completion criteria by specifying a required watch percentage, access in-depth reporting to better understand user interaction with video content and integrate video from sources like YouTube and Vimeo.
