What is an eLearning Authoring Tool?

DEFINITION:

An eLearning authoring tool is an application which allows you to create eLearning content. Traditionally this type of software was desktop based, like Adobe Captivate, but more modern authoring tools are now cloud-based.

Once you create your training content in an authoring tool, you can export it, usually as a SCORM file, which can be read by your Learning Management System (what is an LMS?)

In essence, we can add further authoring capabilities and functionality that may save you time and money.

For example, as part of a recent project we added a function which enables the author to translate material into multiple different languages, at the click of a button. This bespoke feature was created based on the client’s needs and in the long run will save them time and the money they were previously spending on external translation services.
